![]() It flies across the Atlantic having adventures along the way including a mechanical shark, pirate skeletons in the Arctic, Cloud men and then the Sky rhinoceroses. ![]() They then lure seagulls with Earthworm to tie them to the peach stem and pull it up into the air. James and his odd new friends go rolling through the countryside until they fall in the sea. (In the movie they survive and come back later.) Centipede bites the stem of the peach freeing it and it rolls over Aunt Spiker and Aunt Sponge squashing them to death. He then enters a chamber inside the kernel/pit where he encounters giant bugs and insects and arachnids and a worm. He climbs in the hole and into the peach. ![]() One evening while being sent out to pick up litter James sees something has eaten a hole in the peach. The cruel aunts decide to make money by letting people see the peach and take photos, for a price. It then grows bigger and bigger and bigger. Her sister Spiker doesn’t believe her at first but then sees the peach. One day Aunt Sponge sees a peach growing on the dead peach tree. Subsequently James accidentally drops the crocodile tongues, which are then soken up by an assortment of bugs (an earthworm, a glowworm, a silkworm, a centipede, a spider and a grasshopper) and an old peach tree growing on his Aunts' property. In one of James's most miserable moments, a mysterious little man appears and presents James with a bag of magical objects (crocodile tongues) which he claims will improve his life. They also starve him, refusing to let him eat until he does his chores, and even then they only feed him fish heads. James was then sent to live with his two abusive aunts, Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker who mentally and physically abuse him and basically treat him as a slave. James Henry Trotter lived a happy life with his parents, until a rhinoceros escaped from the London zoo, and devoured Mr. 4 September, 1940) is the main protagonist in Roald Dahl's book James and the Giant Peach.
